October Challenge 2022
Instead of trying to follow an Inktober prompt, I created my own personal October challenge. My challenge was to photoshop my pets into horror movie posters. I have a lot of photos of my pets, but for these I needed the “right” photo, which left me with slim pickings. Giving myself as limited time as possible ( mostly an hour max), these are how the images turned out…

Are all of these great? Absolutely not. However, I did learn a lot more about Photoshop tools than I expected. Also with Photoshop’s new AI features, it also makes editing out unnecessary objects must easier than in the past.
Did I make it through the entire month of October? No, I did not. However, I did make a little Halloween Animation to celebrate one horror icon and my personal favorite: Ghost Face!
For this animation, I used three main softwares: Photoshop, Midjourney, and After Effects.
My dog with Ghost Face is from a real photoshoot that came about after a misunderstanding of the size of some horror gnomes bought on Amazon. I simply photoshopped out the background.
The background was generated using Midjourney. I wanted a spooky full moon scene, but couldn’t quite envision it. Using its text prompt generator, Midjourney generated this background.
Then after watching a couple tutorials, I composited the video in After Effects.
If you have never done an art challenge before I recommend it. It doesn’t have to be long, and it doesn’t have to be prompted by someone else. An everyday challenge does give you the opportunity to play around and make something, even if it doesn’t look great.
