Behind the Design: Pawsibilities

The Problem

Pawsibilities began as an idea of “something” designed to contribute to animal welfare. Further research triggered an idea for an app to help mediate the large animal abandonment issue in the United States, where about 7 million animals enter shelters annually.

Tools Used

  • Pencil and Paper

  • Adobe Illustrator

  • Adobe Photoshop

  • Adobe Indesign

  • Invision

Initial Research

After visiting a local cat rehabilitation center and shelter in the East Village of New York City, I gained some insight of possible app ideas to help shelters connect with resources they needed the most. Affordable connections between vets and shelters and the possibility of finding fosters were the top priorities for this shelter.

Wireframes

After researching apps and their functions it was time to design the wireframes for the prototype. I decided to create a networking app to connect shelters, vets, and potential adopters. Since the app functions differently for certain groups, I had to design wireframe templates for each group. Then I designed final Art Boards in Photoshop/Illustrator.

The Prototype

For this project, I wanted to try a new prototyping tool, and thus settled on Invision. It was a simple process to layout the flow of the project and create a really intuitive prototype quickly.
